Men’s Fall Fashion Preview

These are heady times in men’s fashion, with an ever-expanding array of sartorial choices in both streetwear and workwear. This fall, trendsetters will be sporting different fabrics and shapes - in both accessories and silhouettes.

You may have already noticed the arrival of the cross-body bag. Its emergence means no more pockets stuffed with phone, AirPods, wallet, keys and other items on our growing list of must-carries. Alternatively, an increasingly popular take on utility vests offers a different theory of streamlining, if mostly for weekends.

Oversized puffers remain a solid, snappy option. Only this winter, they’ll be bulkier, larger and longer - and maybe even a bit warmer. As for fabrics, pay close attention to what’s being done with nylon and leather. The former is presenting in both traditional subtle tones and with pops of neon. The latter, meanwhile, is being seen as an accent piece - think boxy jacket - or in a daring head-to-toe ensemble.

Finally, designers are once again playing with the classic lines of the workday suit. This season’s reinterpretation adds greater volume and stronger shoulders to the long-familiar slimmer fit. And when an urban chill demands a second layer, those who know suggest a polished, preppy V-neck sweater.
