Holiday Light Display & Sing For Hope Performances at The Shops at Hudson Yards Extended

By Popular Demand, the Sing for Hope Pianos, Presented by SAP, Will Remain Available For Public Performances Through January 15, 2021

Sing for Hope Pianos will be Donated to Non-Profit and Community Organizations Following their Run at The Shops at Hudson Yards

NEW YORK (December 28, 2020) – Hudson Yards and leading technology giant SAP announced today an extended partnership with Sing for Hope, the non-profit organization that mobilizes thousands of artists in creative service to give back to communities across the U.S. and around the world. For an additional two weeks, through January 15, eight Sing for Hope Pi-anos (seven upright pianos and one baby grand piano) will be displayed throughout The Shops at Hudson Yards creating a festive atmosphere to welcome the New Year. Members of the pub-lic are invited to reserve a time to play here. For the safety of performers, pianos will be sani-tized between each player.

After January 15, all of the pianos will be donated to non-profit and community organizations in underserved areas as part of Sing for Hope Pianos’ ongoing initiative, which has donated over 500 pianos to date.

Each piano has been decorated by a local artist including Annica Lydenberg of Dirty Bandits, a HYxOffTheWall artist alumni, as well as Richela Fabian Morgan, Christopher Spinelli, Irina Sheynfeld, Nick Stavrides, Gilly Gil-lugo, Danielle M. Chèry of DMC Original Art, and Imani Shanklin Roberts. The artists were inspired by the art, architecture and experiences of Hudson Yards to create one-of-a-kind designs painted on each piano.

“It has been so inspiring to see our artist partners bring their Sing for Hope Pianos to life over these past months, and now, seeing the instruments in their public debut at Hudson Yards makes our hearts sing!” said Sing for Hope Co-Funder Camille Zamora. “The Sing for Hope Pianos embody everything we love about NYC – our creativity, our diversity, our resilience, our hope. This year, more than ever, the pianos resonate powerfully for all of us, and we applaud SAP and Hudson Yards for bringing them center stage.”

In addition to Sing for Hope, Hudson Yards’ Holiday light display, “Shine Bright,” presented by Wells Fargo, which features over 2M lights across the neighborhood will also remain in place through January 31.

“We received an overwhelming response to our holiday program this season, finding new, safe ways to share the magic of New York City during the Holidays. Whether through piano playing with Sing for Hope, breathtaking pictures of the magical light display sent near and far, or watching families experience moments of joy, all of us at Hudson Yards were continually re-minded how lucky we are to be a destination for all in this great city. We hope that keeping the lights and sounds of the season on for a few more weeks will keep New Yorkers inspired for a bright future in the New Year,” said Stacey Feder, Chief Marketing Officer, Hudson Yards.

The Shops at Hudson Yards are open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily. For more information about Hudson Yards, please visit www.HudsonYardsNewYork.com.

Hudson Yards has been working in close collaboration with the Mount Sinai Health System to implement enhanced health and safety measures that meet or exceed current public health guid-ance from local, state and federal authorities, including requiring face coverings at all times and reimagining the visitor journey to offer a socially distanced and almost completely ‘touchless’ experience. Additional safety protocols include: increased, rigorous cleaning procedures; timed tickets at Edge and Vessel with staggered arrival to minimize queues; temperature screenings at Edge; floor markings throughout to encourage social distancing; touch-less elevators operating at reduced capacities; and more.
