NEW YORK CITY (October 22, 2019) – Fleurs de Villes today announced it will host a free ten-day exhibition at Hudson Yards from October 25th to November 3rd. Attendees are invited to The Shops and Restaurants at Hudson Yards to view the artworks of the area’s leading florists who collaborated with world-class brands and used inspiration from New York City to create 14 unique, fresh-floral fashion mannequins. This signature event marks Fleurs de Villes’ first time on the East Coast, blending inspiring floral design with bespoke mannequins.

The exhibition at Hudson Yards will be a part of Fleurs de Villes’ “Mannequin Series” partnering local florists with leading brands to create elaborate and original works of art. Florists participating include Oscar Mora Floral Art, fleursBELLA, Botanique Flowers, Damslefly Designs, Rachel Cho Flowers, fLorEsta, Worship Luxury, Villanueva Designs, Fleurs Floral & Event Design, Polycarp Flowers, Laurie Lemek, Theresa Colucci and Darcie Garcia from the Northeast Chapter of the American Institute of Floral Designers as well as Pinstripes & Peonies in London. The New York City-themed showcase will feature mannequins inspired by the iconic gowns created by HAMILTON costume designer Paul Tazewell for the Schuyler Sisters – Angelica, Eliza and Peggy (designed by Damselfly Designs and their Founder Brenda LaManna), Sex and the City, Cyndi Lauper, Times Square on New Year’s Eve, Central Park, Studio 54, the Statue of Liberty and more. To celebrate the launch of the exhibition, models donning ornate, floral headpieces will be on-site throughout The Shops and Restaurants and Public Square and Gardens on opening weekend. Visitors will also be able to enjoy floral-inspired offerings from signature cocktails including Estiatorio Milos’ “The Herbs of Sparta,” Hudson Yards Grill’s “Lavender Margarita,” Kāwi’s “Le Ville Spritz,” Belcampo’s “Jalapeño Business,” Mercado Little Spain’s “Lila,” TAK Room’s “Knickerbocker Punch,” Queensyard’s “Lady Mary” and Wild Ink’s “Fleurs de Villes Cocktail,” to retail deals from PIQ, Scanlan Theodore, and more during the length of the exhibition.

“Fleurs de Villes is a showcase for local, world-class floral design. Our pop-up shows are stunning examples of the artistry of flowers, and we are delighted to partner with Hudson Yards to present our show for the first time in New York City – connecting the public with a free sensory experience they won’t see anywhere else,” said Fleurs de Villes Co-Founder Karen Marshall.

The mannequins will be judged by select guests including Adam Glassman (Creative Director of O, The Oprah Magazine), Raul Àvila (President of Raul Àvila Inc.) and Jill Brooke (Founder of FlowerPowerDaily.com, Former CNN Style Reporter and EIC of Avenue Magazine) at a VIP media preview event on October 25th, where grand prizes will be awarded to florists and brands. The four award categories include: Best in Show, Most Original, Most Realistic and Florist Favorite. Attendees are also encouraged to vote for their favorite mannequin to enter to win a trip to London (including a 2-night hotel stay and airfare provided by Norwegian Air) to attend the Jardin Blanc at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show on May 23rd, 2020 and a tour of the English gardens with the National Trust through Visit Britain. The New York City showcase will mark the last stop of the Fleurs de Villes’ 2019 international tour following shows in London, England at Covent Garden, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show’s Jardin Blanc, as well as installations in Quebec, Toronto, British Columbia, Chicago and Southern California.

“We’re thrilled to host Fleurs de Villes’ first-ever New York City installation,” said Stacey Feder, Chief Marketing Officer of Hudson Yards. “Bringing unique cultural and artistic experiences to the neighborhood is a key pillar of Hudson Yards and this exhibition is a natural complement to our fantastic retailers and ongoing programming.”
