For Hudson Yards Style Director Kate Powell, one of the best parts of summer is taking her son on adventures—they have a blast and come home with meaningful memories. This month, she took him to a host of activities around the neighborhood. And because she’s always thinking about what to wear, she couldn’t help but dress them both for the occasion. Her pro-tip for chic family style: “When planning an outfit with your tiny people, go for coordinating looks rather than full matching. This applies for family photos, special occasions or just having fun. Find pieces in the same color families but avoid trying to look like identical twins.”

CAMP’s indoor playspace and creative activities make it the go-to spot for hot days, rainy weather or really anytime you want to make a kid’s day. GAMES IN THE BACKYARD

Backyard presented by Wells Fargo is the perfect place for a free-ranging afternoon of cornhole tossing, food truck sampling and catching a game on the Big Screen. For their outing, Kate and Conway sported cotton shorts and light sweatshirts from Uniqlo—perfect for warding off the morning chill. And, as Kate says, “coordinating sunglasses are a must-have.”

Sweet Treats at Van Leeuwan

For Kate—and a lot of other parents!—ice cream is a superpower, helping to put a smile on the faces of little ones. So, of course, their day at Hudson Yards included a cone at Van Leeuwen. “How pretty is this store?” Kate asks. “The vintage green is so whimsical and enticing I couldn't pass up the opportunity to coordinate a bit with soft florals and a pop of coral. As for flavors, get the Earl Grey—it won't disappoint!”
